Izzy found himself in the Bay Area from Southern California when he was 18, and has been quietly roasting coffee for the last 8 years. As a self-proclaimed behind-the-scenes guy, Izzy has been happiest standing near the heat of a UG22 Probat in solitude. Izzy’s relationship with music is temporal—bands like Nirvana and Yo La Tengo evoke memories of a particular time and place, and he can track the movement of time through these bands. Along with roasting coffee, Izzy is good at driving a forklift, but bad at sports and looking natural. He’s usually hiding behind something.
Meet The Team

Izzy Fraire

Lindsey Shea
When Lindsey was five, she wanted to be an Oscar-winning President that traveled to the moon. While there’s still plenty of time for her to reach her goals, for now she’s the one responsible for making our roasters look good in pictures. Lindsey has been making coffee for the last eight years, and enjoys taking non-boring (ie: not latte art) pictures of coffee. Although Lindsey doesn’t play an instrument, she’s an avid concert attendee—ask her what she’s doing this weekend and it probably involves seeing a show. She secretly dreams of being a drummer in a garage girl band, so go ahead and add that to her list of career aspirations.

Ashley Rodriguez
Ashley started making coffee after she quit her job one summer afternoon drinking beers with a friend in Brooklyn. After her friend proclaimed he was going to work in a coffee shop, she followed suit. Fast-forward seven years, and she’s an editor for Barista Magazine. Ashley loves being interviewed and guessing people’s birth order (she’s the eldest child). She has a list of the top ten Billy Joel songs hanging in her closet.

Katie Miller
Katie is the reason you can order your Matchbook coffee—she maintains the website and keeps it looking shiny. Katie is the type of person who likes to look outside the box for answers, and enjoys a challenge. You can find her doing design work for coffee companies and listening to classic rock like Queen and the Beatles, although her musical tastes are often tied with an experience or moment in her life; Lady Gaga's album Joanne harkens memories of walking the streets of Florence, Italy. Her special skills at the end of her resume might look something like this: oil painter, former member of a girl band (for one day), and can currently do a cartwheel.
